Sharing Movies or Mevies: Exploring New Methods for Social Video Experiences We demonstrate Mevie, our new high-fideltiy prototype designed for research into personalisation and casual video sharing in the future. Mevie is designed to offer simple mechanisms to navigate, create and share video, using home or online video. The basis of Mevie is a video history that can be used to find previously-viewed clips, implicitly mark intervals by re-watching, create automatic summaries based on frequently-viewed content and to visualize crowd-sourced viewing patterns for fast navigation. This provides engaging experiences for GRAND attendees, with existing video and with their own captured content of the conference. Attendees can use Mevie to author and share personalised video connected to GRAND channels (e.g. on YouTube). Our approach changes the way people think about video interaction, and encourages casual authoring and sharing.

Presented in Ottawa, May 2014 at the GRAND NCE AGM.
