MyView: Viewing and Annotating Multi-View Video


MyView is the umbrella for various projects relating to multi-view hypervideo; we are developing frameworks for:

  • Authoring: detailed annotation of video, enhanced through computer vision algorithms, plus integration with viewing frameworks to allow for user-based editing. The metadata required for navigating multi-view video can be partially created by computer vision methods, however this is not accurate enough for end-user application. To enhance the accuracy, we use an authoring tool for creation of in-video tags, adding information, comments and links.

  • Broadcast: a distributed, modular transport framework which supports additional processing through pipelined components, communicating via a single protocol to all viewers.

  • Consumption: a set of tools for viewing rich media, including multi-view visualisation, sensitive region visualisation, UI models for moving target selection, and widget toolkits for creation of spatio-temporal interfaces for rich media applications.
    • Navigating multi-view video requires research into methods for selecting moving objects, switching views and providing hyperlinks between videos.
    • The advance of multimedia and HCI mechanisms for multi-view HD video requires accelerated GUI elements for animation and interaction.

A large component of the current research is on the HCI and Multimedia issues regarding interactive multi-view hypervideo. We are investigating methods for selecting moving targets, switching views (with user-based reference points) and linking between regions in videos.

Authoring of Multi-View Rich Media



A large component of the current research is on the HCI and Multimedia issues regarding interactive multi-view hypervideo. We are investigating methods for tagging and commenting on objects within video, over intervals or at specific instants of time, in order to effectively browse video and link between regions.

Spatio-Temporal GUI Elements

A large component of the current research is on the HCI and Multimedia issues regarding interactive multi-view hypervideo. As part of this we are creating new frameworks to assist in rapid creation of high quality hardware accelerated GUI elements to support new media browsing and navigation mechanisms with multi-view HD video.
